Abstract
The titled cyclophane (cyclic [6]metaphenylacetylene) with six methoxy grou ps inside the cavity has a nearly planar carbon framework, forms open-chann el structures in the crystal, and exhibits an ammonium-selective ionophoric property in spite of the considerably large cavity.
