Abstract
This review focuses on recent epidemiological findings on Guillain-Barre sy ndrome regarding incidence, antecedent events related to the disease, progn osis and prognostic indicators, and treatment. Moreover, this review summar izes recent observations on clinical variants of Guillain-Barre syndrome an d their relationship with the prevailing clinical presentation of the disea se. The epidemiological observations which have advanced the understanding of the pathogenesis of Guillain-Barre syndrome are also discussed. Curr Opi n Neurol 14:605-613.
