Abstract
Alkyl hydroperoxides, which are formed as major reaction products duri ng illumination of dyes in the presence of oxygen and an organic subst rate, are shown to quench the excited triplet state of the dye by way of an electron-transfer mechanism, leading to the intermediary formati on of reactive free radicals.
