The tribe Thophini is redefined. It includes only the genera Thopha Amyot & Serville and Arunta Distant, both of which are endemic to Australia. The C aribbean genus Uhleroides Distant is excluded from the Thophini and is tran sferred to the Zammarini Distant. A new species, Thopha emmotti, is describ ed from western Queensland and a key to the species of Thopha Amyot & Servi lle is provided.
