We encountered an unusual case of acute myocardial infarction due to o
bstruction of a coronary aneurysm in a 38-year-old Japanese man. Altho
ugh thrombolysis and rescue percutaneous transluminal coronary angiopl
asty, performed in the acute phase, did not result in recanalization,
serial angiography and intravascular ultrasonography showed spontaneou
s recanalization and partial thrombosis within the aneurysmal segment
during 3 months. (C) 1997 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
