Abstract
This study utilized the Family Environment Scale and the Experience Samplin g Method to evaluate how overall family discord and discord in immediate fa mily interactions were related to adolescents' age, in 101 single-mother fa milies. Mothers' reports of overall family discord decreased across adolesc ence. In immediate interactions, adolescent boys reported feeling more ange r towards their mothers with age, while girls reported feeling less anger w ith age.
