AIDS prevention campaigns: what lessons can be learned?

The purpose of this article is to examine preventive programs which may hel p to reduce the rising number of HIV infected individuals. Behavioral theor ies were taken into consideration from which stimulate behavioral changes. To measure the effectiveness of the behavioral theories, different evaluati on methods were analysed. Following the recommendations made by Choi and Co ates, new guidelines on which to base preventive AIDS compaigns in the futu re have been set out.
