Abstract
In developing a perpendicular recording head, writability, head induced era sure and head skew problem are major concerns for achieving 100 Gbpsi recor ding. Sufficient overwrite performance of the single-pole head with a track width down to 0.26 mum and clear MFM images of 0.16 mum recorded signals we re obtained. Furthermore, high stray field robustness was realized with a n ewly designed head accompanied by a high head efficiency. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
