Performance of a timing recovery system for perpendicular magnetic recordin
g channels is studied. The system detects timing error from pre-equalized w
aveform of a basic PR system such as PR1, and corrects the timing of sample
d sequence using an interpolated filter. The results show that the system w
hich uses PR1 system as the pre-equalization and directly compensates the r
