Abstract
The paper by Nozato et al.(1) describes the inhibitory effect of adenovirus -mediated overexpression of p16(INK4a) on endothelin-1-induced cardiomyocyt e hypertrophy and on aortic banding-induced cardiac hypertrophy.(1) Althoug h the precise mechanism of inhibitory effect Of p16(INK4a), is still elusiv e, this seems to be an intriguing approach because there has been no report regarding the feasibility of therapeutic usage of p16(INK4a) to ameliorate cardiac hypertrophy.
