Abstract
A general method has been developed for the synthesis of N-tert-butyloxycar bonyl N-carboxyanhydrides from beta -amino acids using Vilsmeier complex. T hese beta -UNCA are stable, and the reactivity with different nucleophiles (alcohol, amine, lithium enolate) was studied.
