Abstract
We used the Deutsch-Mark (DM) formalism to calculate atomic K-shell ionizat ion cross sections for the elements chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu) , scandium (Sc) and vanadium (V). The calculated K-shell ionization cross s ections were compared with recently measured K-shell ionization cross secti ons and good to satisfactory agreement has been found for all five elements . Moreover, when compared with other available calculated K-shell ionizatio n cross sections for these five atoms using a variety of theoretical method s and semi-empirical formulae, the predictions of the DM formalism achieve a level of agreement with experimental data that is as good as, or sometime s better than, the predictions from the other methods.
