Z. Kassai et al., Penetration of radionuclides across the skin: Glucans as possible inhibitors of metals permeation, J RAD NUCL, 250(1), 2001, pp. 189-191
Penetration of Cs+, Cd2+ and Co2+ ions across an animal model of human skin
(five-day-old rat skin) was studied in vitro in vertical diffusion cells.
Glucans (fibrilary beta-glucan, carboxymethyl-chitosan-glucan) were used as
permeation inhibitors with the aim to reduce the potential toxicological e
ffect of these metals in humans. Of the glucans studied, carboxymethyl-chit
osan-glucan was the more effective inhibitor. The dose-dependency of this e
ffect was demonstrated.
