Abstract
Heterojunctions were constructed, consisting of a 50 rim thick sol-gel deri ved titanium dioxide (TiO2) layer and a 500 nm thick thermally evaporated c hloroaluminium phthalocyanine (ClAlPc) film sandwiched between an indium ti n oxide (ITO) base and a gold counter electrode. It is found from short cir cuit current measurements that TiO2 films can be sensitised to wavelengths outside their intrinsic sensitivity by using phthalocyanine dyes: Photoelec trical measurements were performed on the devices using a solar simulator a t six different intensities varying from 0.18 to 2.0 mW/cm(2). The overall conversion efficiency of the cells was found to reach maximum at the intens ity of light of 1.12 mW/cm(2) from the solar simulator.
