Abstract
In a population-based cross-sectional survey conducted in the Netherlands o f 7,200 people aged 65 years and older (with a response rate of 79%), 20% o f the respondents were found to have nontraumatic foot complaints of more t han 4 weeks' duration, often involving the forefoot. Female sex, joint dise ase, and multimorbidity were found to be risk factors for the presence of f oot complaints; older age and obesity were not. Respondents with these comp laints had limited mobility and poor perceived well-being.
