Abstract
A simple theoretical model is developed that describes the recording and re construction of the polarization state of light in photoanisotropic materia ls through the use of a plane-polarized reference beam. The bipolar respons e of the medium to photoexcitation allows the recording of holograms with u seful polarization discrimination properties. (C) 2001 Optical Society of A merica.
