Abstract
This paper discusses an adaptive procedure of a simplified power method for computing the eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of an au tocovariance matrix. The objective is to generate a suboptimal weight vecto r for an adaptive array operating in a multipath fading CDMA (code-division multiple access) channel. The total computational load of the proposed pro cedure is about O(4N), including an autocovariance matrix update, where N i s the number of weights, The performance of the proposed array system is sh own in terms of the BER (bit-error rate) and the allowable capacity, in a m odeled IS-95 CDMA signal environment.
