Abstract
The reconstruction of the parameters of underground targets is still highly anticipated in ground-penetrating radar (GPR) applications. In this paper, the FDTD method and time-domain optimization algorithm are used to reconst ruct the permittivities of underground multiple targets. An iterative optim ization algorithm is proposed. The forward scattering data are also calcula ted by a 2.5-D-FDTD algorithm in order to better simulate the practical GPR situation. The relationship between the convergence rates of the inverse a lgorithm and the initialization values are studied. (C) 2001 John Wiley & S ons, Inc.
