Pseudotumor cerebri

Pseudotumor cerebri is a disorder affecting mainly young, obese women. Ther e is no known cause or single pathophysiologic mechanism to explain the dis order. The diagnosis is based on the triad of: (1) papilledema, (2) elevate d intracranial pressure with a normal cerebrospinal fluid constituency, and (3) normal central nervous system imaging studies. Treatment involves vari ous maneuvers to lower the intracranial pressure, including medicine and su rgery.
