A novel all-optical frequency multiplication/recovery technique based on a
repetitive pulse intensity matching is proposed and demonstrated. Unlike a
rational harmonic mode locking requiring additional stabilizing functions,
this technique can be used to generate stable and input polarization indepe
ndent optical pulse trains with the repetition rates of 2.5-12.5 GHz from 2
.5 GHz driving pulse. Also, this scheme can be applied to the extraction of
the clock signal from a pseudorandom bit sequence signal. (C) 2001 Elsevie
