For holographic data storage we applied fractional Fourier transform (FRFT)
instead of the conventional Fourier transform. In comparison to the conven
tional Fourier transform, the FRFTs shifting rule makes the spectral distri
bution more uniform and the FRFTs larger scaling factor reduces the reconst
ruction error. The phase mask designed by the Yang-Gu algorithm improves th
e spectral uniformity and reduces the reconstruction error. (C) 2001 Publis
