C. Fischer et al., Photoacoustic monitoring of trace gases by use of a diode-based differencefrequency laser source, OPTICS LETT, 26(20), 2001, pp. 1609-1611
We present a compact mid-infrared laser spectrometer for trace-gas monitori
ng. Difference frequency generation in periodically poled LiNbO3 is used as
laser source, yielding a tuning range 3.2-3.7 mum at a linewidth of 154 MH
z. The relatively high average power of 3 to 5 mW favors detection with a s
mall resonant photoacoustic gas cell. Measurements of methane yield a detec
tion limit in the low parts in 10(6) by volume concentration range. (C) 200
