Abstract
Five new species of fleas and one new subgenus of fleas are described from Africa. They include Chiastopsylla (Ctenomacropsylla) petroma, n. subgen., n. sp. (Chimaeropsyllidae) from Cape Province, South Africa, Hypsophthalmus baxteri, n. sp. (Chimaeropsyllidae) from Natal, South Africa, Ctenophthalm us (Ethioctenophthahnus) hottentotus, n. sp. (Ctenophthalmidae) from Transv aal, South Africa, Ctellophthal"lus (Ethioctenophthalinus) nigeriensis, n. sp. (Ctenophthalmidae) from Nigeria, and Ctellophthalinus (Ethioctenophthah nits) truncatus, n. sp. (Ctenophthalmidae) from Transvaal, South Africa and Manicaland, Zimbabwe. A key is provided for the species of Hypsophthalmus.
