Abstract
In this paper we focus on the behavior of fully developed traveling wave co nvection in a rectangular channel (Gamma (x) = 2, psi = -0.11) with lateral flow. We first derive the perturbation equations for fully developed trave ling wave convection with lateral flow. Then we numerically solve these equ ations under laterally periodic boundary conditions using the MAC method. T he result shows that the amplitude of the convection rolls decreases and th e phase velocity increases significantly as the intensity of lateral Bow, R e, is increased. The upper branch of the bifurcation curves is similar to t hat for Rayleigh-Benard convection in binary fluid mixtures, but stationary overturning convection (SOC) along the upper branch is not found. The bifu rcation properties, including the onset of convection and the saddle point, depend on the lateral flow.
