A pharmacological link between epilepsy and anxiety?

Clinical and experimental evidence suggests a relationship between two impo rtant pathological traits, epilepsy and anxiety, that might involve the GAB A(A) receptor. To demonstrate a direct link, anxiogenic responses induced b y a benzodiazepine receptor ligand have been assessed in mice selected for their sensitivity to epilepsy. The results provided evidence for a link bet ween seizuring and anxiety, but showed no direct involvement of GABA(A) rec eptors.
