Abstract
We have designed primers to the conserved region of the erythrocyte binding antigen (EBA)-175 gene which amplify specifically the two alleles by polym erase chain reaction (PCR) and by nested PCR. This approach provides a spec ific, sensitive and rapid method for genotype determination in a large numb er of Plasmodium falciparum field isolates.
