Sa. Reddy et Y. Reichardt, Production of slag cement with an MPS vertical roller mill at the cement plant of Sagar Cements Ltd in Bayyavaram, India, ZKG INT, 54(9), 2001, pp. 492-497
From June through December 2000 the MPS 2500 BC installed at the Bayyavaram
plant of Sagar Cements Limited produced roughly 53500 t of slag cement of
a quality that suits the market. For this granulated blastfurnace slag, cli
nker and gypsum were simultaneously ground at a ratio of 48 to 48 to 4% fin
eness of 3600 cm(2)/g Blaine. The average throughput amounted to 21.3 t/h a
nd was by just under 7% higher than guaranteed. The specific power consumpt
ion of mill, classifier and fan amounted to 33.8 k Wh/t and was by about 8%
lower than guaranteed. A scheduled resurfacing of the grinding elements af
ter 2185 operating hours showed that wear at the grinding elements amounted
to about 5 g/t, a value that exactly corresponded to the figure that had b
een forecast after the pilot grinding for this project that was effected at
the supplier's test station. Commissioning of the plant proceeded without
any problems and resembled that of grinding plants for cement raw material,
limestone or coal.
