P. Langlet et al., Severe acute pancreatitis associated with peliosis hepatis in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus, ACT GASTR B, 64(3), 2001, pp. 298-300
Acute pancreatitis is an unusual complication of systemic lupus erythematos
us but can also stem from immunosuppressive therapy. Although abnormal live
r tests are commonly seen in SLE, peliosis hepatis is very rarely described
. We report here the first case of SLE associating a severe acute pancreati
tis with peliosis hepatis who responded well to the immunosuppressive thera
py. As suggested by the favourable outcome in this case, the presence of pe
liosis hepatis in SLE cannot not be held as a strong argument against an ag
gressive immunosuppressive therapy.
