We evaluated myocardial perfusion with positron emission tomographic imagin
g in patients who received primary stent implantation or tissue plasminogen
activator for the management of acute myocardial infarction. Primary stent
implantation resulted in smaller defect size and greater rest and stress p
erfusion compared with tissue plasminogen in the first week after acute myo
cardial infarction, suggesting more complete reperfusion in the stent group
.
