A simple two-dimensional model of coupled electrochemical oscillators is st
udied, where linear diffusive coupling of the potential causes dephasing of
the oscillators. It is shown that coherence breaks down due to a strong de
formation of the phase flow near the limit cycle. When a large number of su
ch oscillators is coupled, the temporal response is bursting oscillations.
