Abstract
In the ITS (Intelligent Transport System), vehicle-to-vehicle communication to exchange information between vehicles and vehicle-to-road communication connecting vehicles and fixed network systems are important. The use of mi llimeter waves for vehicle-to-vehicle communication is being discussed. In this paper, in connection with vehicle-to-vehicle communication using milli meter waves, fundamental studies of fading due to road surface reflection, which is considered the most severe cause of degradation of radio wave prop agation, are carried out. In addition, a quantitative evaluation of the eff ect of space diversity as a countermeasure for degradation of propagation i s performed. (C) 2001 Scripta Technica.
