Abstract
Absorption spectra of SrLaAlO4 and SrLaGaO4 single crystals are invest igated as well as their changes after irradiation by gamma-quanta (Co- 60 source). Both crystals reveal a similar behaviour that is caused, a s it seems, by the same nature of colour centres in them. The conclusi on that oxygen defects as well as Fk impurities play a significant rol e in the colour centres formation in these crystals.
