Isothermal high temperature tests have been performed on two B2 iron alumin
ides (a binary alloy and an ODS FeAl) in the temperature range between 750
and 1000 degreesC. The ODS alloy is elaborated by mechanical alloying with
an Y2O3 dispersion to improve mechanical properties. Thermogravimetric meas
urements are carried out in high purity synthetic air, and the oxide film i
s studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD)
. The results are compared with a recent analysis on similar binary and ODS
FeAl alloys. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
