Abstract
Aventurine glass is a colored glass that has been utilized as art glass. We studied the morphology and the reflective property of Cr2O3 microcrystals in Sio(2)-B(2)o(3)-Na2O glass. An increase in B2O3 content and Cr2O3 additi on rate increases the number of microcrystals in aventurine glass. The aven turine glass fiber that was packed Cr2O3 microcrystals into the base glass with high density shows a higher reflectance at the peak wavelength than th e glass fiber colored by Cr3+. Moreover, the reflectance of the aventurine glass fiber is correlated with the number of Cr2O3 microcrystals in aventur ine glass.
