Frequencies of tripler repeats with periodicities of 2, 3,..., 11 bp i
n the family of DNA sequences in the golden hamster synaptonemal compl
ex (SC) were analyzed in comparison with some structurally and functio
nally related families of genomic DNA. Triplets TGT/ACA and GTG/CAC wi
th a 2-nt period were found to be the most frequent in rat and hamster
SC DNA as well as in the microsatellite loci of human chromosome 13.
The tripler distribution patterns were different for cloned nuclear ma
trix-associated DNA of hen alpha-globin gene domain and for a sample o
f random sequences.
