Evaluation of spectral parameters and emission characteristics of europiumdiphthalocyanine and dinaphthalocyanine molecules in certain polymer matrices
Ga. Kumar, Evaluation of spectral parameters and emission characteristics of europiumdiphthalocyanine and dinaphthalocyanine molecules in certain polymer matrices, MATER LETT, 51(2), 2001, pp. 125-128
Optical absorption and emission spectral studies of europium phthalocyanine
and europium naphthalocyanines in Nylon and polymethyl metacrylate (PMMA)
matrices are reported for the first time. The recorded absorption and emiss
ion spectra are analyzed to get the important spectral parameters, such as
optical absorption cross section (sigma (a)), emission cross section (sigma
(e)), oscillator strength (f) of the principal absorption bands, fluoresce
nce band width (Delta lambda), emission wavelength (lambda), radiative deca
y time (tau) and optical gain (G). Analysis shows that the emission cross s
ection of Pc in nylon is of the same order as that of Nc in PMMA matrix and
Pc in borate glass matrix. However, for Nc in PMMA, it is also found that
the emission cross section is increased by more than 10(4) times compared t
o borate matrix. Optical gain is increased very much in Pc-doped nylon as c
ompared to Nc-doped PMMA matrix. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights
