Abstract
A rapid and simple method was developed to prepare porous Fe2O3/SiO2 nanoco mposites by combustion of stearic acid precursors. The composites were char acterized by FTIR, XRD, and BET specific area measurement. The results show ed that the composites were porous, and the porous structure was dependent on the content of SiO2. The resulting composites impregnated by H2SO4 showe d good catalytic activity for the esterifcation of acetic acid and butanol. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
