Abstract
Arrayed helical antennas (AHA) for personal telephone handsets have been de veloped for both low-SAR and omnidirectional radiation patterns, where the AHA has two helical antennas along the direction of the width on the top of personal telephones. A comparison of the SAR value between the AHA and a c onventional helical antenna (CHA) demonstrates that the SAR value of the AR A is 35% less than that of the CHA. Good performance of the radiation patte rns and the VSWR of the AHA are also shown by using the experimental measur ements. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
