Stochastic gravitational wave background produced by a stationary coalescin
g population of binary neutron stars in the Galaxy is calculated. This back
ground is found to constitute a confusion limit within the LISA frequency b
and up to a limiting frequency of nu (lim) similar to to 10(-3) HZ, leaving
the frequency window similar to 10(-3)-10(-2) Hz open for the potential de
tection of cosmological stochastic GWs and of signals involving massive bla
ck holes out to cosmological distances.
