Type specimen studies in New World Lentinula

Discovery of two biological species within putative Lentinula boryana led t o examination of type specimens of names previously listed in synonymy unde r L. boryana. Shape of cystidia and spore dimensions were diagnostic in ass igning each type collection to a morphological species. Armillaria raphanic a is the most priorable basionym representing the "non-boryana" taxon, and the epithet is recombined in Lentinula.
