Abstract
The carotid body tumor is a rare neoplasm that has generated much literatur e over the past century, and for which continued controversy exists regardi ng natural history, biologic behavior, proper technique of excision, and th e risk of morbidity and mortality. This article discusses overall managemen t of carotid body tumors.
