Abstract
Used lubricating/cooling fluid represents a source of waste water pollution . The objective of the present work is to improve the application of flotat ion technique for the removal of synthetic emulsifiable oil. Anionic surfac tant of the structure H25C12 OOHSO3 Ba has been synthesized and used a coll ector for oil. From surface tension-concentration curves in aqueous solutio n at 25, 35, and 45 degreesC, surface excess concentration and area/molecul e at surface saturation, critical micelle concentration, efficiency, and th ermodynamic parameters of adsorption and micellization have been calculated . The effect of electrolyte on the surface properties of collector is studi ed. Several parameters affecting the performance of the flotation processes are investigated including electrolyte, collector concentrations, and temp eratures are studied and optimum conditions are determined. The results are discussed according to surface and thermodynamic properties of collector a nd kinetic parameters.
