Abstract
This work shows that noise can enhance the discharge time reliability in Ho dgkin-Huxley neuron models stimulated by weak periodic and aperiodic inputs . By expanding the Fokker-Planck equation of an elementary model for excita ble systems, the dependence of the optimal noise intensity on input charact eristics is discussed.
