Abstract
The validity of (1 - q) expansion and factorization approximations are anal yzed in the framework of Tsallis statistics. We employ exact expressions fo r classical independent systems (harmonic oscillators) by considering the u nnormalized and normalized constraints. We show that these approximations c annot be accurate in the analysis of systems with many degrees of freedom. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
