Abstract
Seven species of Tethyidae (Porifera: Demospongiae: Hadromerida) inhabiting the Pacific waters of Mexico, including the Gulf of California, were studi ed. Five of them, Tethya ensis, T mexicana, T. ovum, T. paroxeata, and T. s ocius are new species. The remaining two, T. taboga De Laubenfels and T. ca liforniana De Laubenfels, are new records for the area.
