Abstract
A previously unidentified species of the family Ectinosomatidae (Harpactico ida) dominates soft sediments below 10 m in large areas of the Baltic Sea. It is identical to the species described by Olofsson (1917) as Ectinosoma a rcticum, which was subsequently classified as species incertae by Lang (194 8). Close examination of the mouthparts revealed that it belongs to the gen us Pseudobradya. A description of P. arctica is provided in order to facili tate its identification and its ecology in the Baltic Sea is discussed.
