Isotopically coded tag methodology holds significant promise for differenti
al expression proteomic experiments.. This methodology has the potential fo
r high sensitivity, high coverage, and high; throughput. Although significa
nt technical advances have been made in the past year, this approach must b
e viewed as an emerging technique. Advances, in sample fractionation, both
at the protein and peptide level, and improved data acquisition schemes, wi
ll all be required before the full potential of the method is realized.
