Abstract
A synthetic approach is described to the asymmetric synthesis of ascochlori n (1), an antiviral antibiotic, based on the construction of a sesquiterpen e unit via asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction of tigloyl sultam 4 & butadiene, and the introduction of the aromatic side chain (C9-C12 unit) by employing cuprate chemistry.
