This article presents a sun altar of Thutmosis III in the Northern sun cour
t (Salle Haute) of the Akh-Menu in Karnak, so far unpublished. The altar ha
s a htp-sign on each of its sides, but the are partially destroyed. The sid
e faces of the altar are decorated with nome-processions moving in the dire
ction of the htp-signs. The inscriptions mention that life, endurance, powe
r and happiness shall be granted. The decoration as well as the architectur
e of the altar are unusual for the period. Thutmosis III dedicated this alt
ar to Amun-Re after his victory in Megiddo. This victory is mentioned in an
inscription on the outer wall of the Achmenu in the South. On the other si
de the altar is also depicted on the Northern wall of the Eastern hall of a
nnals with a dedication of Thutmosis III to Amun. The altar was reused by R
amses III.
