One common problem associated with wet-on-wet or prewet processing is that
after padding several hundred yards of yarn/fabric, chemical add-on is cons
iderably decreased, resulting in poor performance of the finished goods or
decreased shade depth. This decrease is due to neglecting the impact of wat
er being transferred from the prewet pad to the chemical pad in the process
. This work investigated the water interchange in the chemical pad and deve
loped a reconstitution method. The consistent shade depth and add-on develo
ped in wet-on-wet pad/batch dyeing and wet-on-wet resin finishing indicated
that the method could also be recommended for wet-on-wet padding processes
.
